Baseball Hosts Stony Brook to End 2012 Regular Seasons; Fireworks on Friday Night

The University of Maine baseball team hosts Stony Brook this weekend to close the 2012 regular season. The Black Bears enter play with a record of 26-22 overall, 11-7 in America East play. Stony Brook is 39-11 overall, 17-3 in league play.
Black Bears Soar Past Eagles 9-4

The University of Maine baseball team scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and added three more in the bottom of the eighth to defeat Boston College 9-4 on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine. The Black Bears improve to 26-22 on the season with the win, while the Eagles fall to 21-31. Michael Fransoso (Portsmouth, N.H.) led the Black Bears with three hits in the game.

Fransoso Belts Two Home Runs as Baseball Sweeps Hartford

Michael Fransoso (Portsmouth, N.H.) belted three-run home runs in each game of a doubleheader as the University of Maine baseball team swept a pair of games from Hartford on Saturday afternoon in West Hartford, Conn. The Black Bears won the first game 6-3 in eight innings, before taking the second game 7-1. Maine improves to 25-21 on the season and 11-6 in America East play, while Hartford falls to 14-38, 5-15 in conference play.
Michael Fransoso
Michael Fransoso (Portsmouth, N.H) led the Black Bears to a pair of wins at Hartford last weekend. He batted .364 on the week with six runs scored and six RBI. He hit a three-run home in extra innings on the first game on Saturday that gave the Black Bears the win.
Corey Conner
Corey Conner (Townsend, Mass.) finished second in the 3,000-meter run at the ECAC Championships. She finished the run in 9:24.14.
